Solar light--Solar road/street/yard light is powered by solar energy.

At day, the solar panels collect the sunlight and transfer into electricity witch will be stored by the storage battery;

At night, the autocontroller turn on the switch. The electricity is released from the battery to the light source. The solar light get into work untill the controller turn off the switch.

The controller could be time control or light control or combined. Normally, we use the third one that is ON by light control OFF by time control. And the controller can protect the light from over charge and over discharge.
